Launch directories, re-checked this month
We took 516 directories from 11 popular free lists on GitHub and checked every one live on 2026-10-14. 66 of them are dead, down or now point somewhere else, and 4 now show unrelated content (a slot-gambling shop, casino affiliate pages, a crypto-wallet download page, an Indonesian "link alternatif" page). Of the live ones a person reviewed, many "free" listings come with a catch.

What "free" means, on 173 reviewed directories with a clear answer
- 113 have a free listing with no strings we could find.
- 18 are free only if you put their badge or link on your site.
- 13 are free only after a queue: "minimum 30-day wait", "30-90 day listing time", "free slots booked into 2027".
- 29 are paid only ($3 to $249 on the pages we saw, mostly one-time).

CSV + Excel, 516 rows. For each directory: live status on the check date, submit page URL, category, free option (yes / backlink required / queue / paid only), lowest paid price seen, account needed, captcha on the form, wait or condition, Tranco popularity rank, and how many public lists include it. 246 live rows were read by a person; the rest carry automatic checks and are labelled that way.
Use it to skip dead sites, avoid free tiers that cost you a backlink or a two-month wait, and start with the popular directories that take a plain form.

From our check on 2026-10-14. "Lists" = how many of the 11 public lists still include it. DNS failures were re-checked through Cloudflare DNS-over-HTTPS before we called a domain dead.

Method
Sources: mukund1158/awesome-startup-launch-directories (CC0), theshubh77/awesome-saas-directories (CC0), nyyhao/saascity-launch-kit (MIT), mahseema/awesome-saas-directories (MIT), yokomakes/awesome-saas-directories (MIT), teamhandyapps-oss/launch-directories (CC BY 4.0), and the README lists of xioanchin/awesome-launch-platforms, rushout09/directory-submission-sites, jaisalrathee/best-free-startup-directories-list, georgelinde887-sudo/directory-submission-sites and ammohitchaprana/Awesome-SaaS-Directories (domain names only). Each domain was fetched over HTTPS with a browser user agent; we looked for a submit page, captcha widgets, login walls and prices, and rendered JavaScript pages in a headless browser. A person then read the submit pages of the most-listed and most-visited directories and recorded the free option, conditions and lowest price. Popularity is the Tranco list N26LW. Policies and prices change; every row carries its check date.
